Jackson Underwood is a Costume Designer and Artisan with a passion for visual storytelling and collaborative ideation. They create costumes that are striking, innovative, and speak to the future while calling on the past. Jackson find exciting visions in purposeful period blending, dramaturgical worldbuilding, and theatre of the absurd, avant garde, and experimental. They are committed to bringing queer, trans, and marginalized stories to the forefront pushing toward a more diverse and expansive future in theatre.
Originally from Kansas City, Jackson received their BFA in Theatre Design and Production with a focus in Costume Design from Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in 2026. At CMU, Jackson received specialized training in all areas of costume design and technology. They designed costumes for three mainstage productions and two fashion lines for Lunar Gala, CMU’s annual fashion show. Jackson is currently a Costume Design Apprentice at the Juilliard School and has worked professionally with the Santa Fe Opera, the Pittsburgh CLO, and the Hangar Theatre.
